Meet Lily
Hi! I’m Lily Alexander, a soprano and multi-genre vocalist based in Hampton, New Brunswick, originally from Sussex. I hold a Bachelor of Music from Mount Allison University and am currently completing my Bachelor of Education, where my love for performance continues to intersect with my growing passion for teaching, mentorship, and community-based music.
My musical journey began at a young age, studying piano and voice with Tammy Morris and Sarah Hallyburton, where I first developed a strong foundation in classical technique and musicianship. During my undergraduate studies, I trained under Christina Haldane, whose mentorship played a significant role in shaping my vocal development and artistic voice.
Throughout my time at Mount Allison, I had the opportunity to participate in an early music tour, performing in Halifax, Lunenburg, Moncton, and Caraquet — an experience that deepened my love for historical repertoire and performing in intimate, acoustically rich spaces. Most recently, I worked as a soloist under Gibson MacMillan, performing Adam Michna’s Missa Pro Defunctis, a project that was both musically challenging and deeply moving.
Alongside my classical work, I’ve spent over a decade performing across classical, country, and contemporary styles, and I’m deeply drawn to storytelling through song. I’m a featured member of the New Brunswick Country Showcase and have had the opportunity to collaborate with artists across Canada and the United States. My original country music video, Christmas Without You, has reached over 80,000 views and helped introduce my music to a wider audience.
Over the years, I’ve been featured multiple times on Christmas Daddies, an experience that shaped my love for performing for meaningful causes and connecting with audiences across the Maritimes. I was also featured on The National in honour of the April 2020 mass shooting in Nova Scotia, an incredibly moving moment that reinforced for me the power of music in collective grief, healing, and remembrance.
Alongside performing, I’ve been a private music teacher for over five years, working with young musicians across voice, piano, and performance. Teaching is a central part of my identity as an artist — I care deeply about creating supportive, inclusive spaces where students feel safe to express themselves, take creative risks, and build confidence through music. My work in education continues to shape how I approach performance: with empathy, intention, and a strong focus on human connection.
While I love the stage, what matters most to me is community. I perform regularly throughout southern New Brunswick — from Moncton to Hampton — and remain committed to building meaningful relationships with audiences, students, and fellow artists across the province.
Outside of music, I share life with my fiancé Brian and our two cats and dog, and I’m constantly dreaming up new creative projects at home. I’m currently pursuing new performance opportunities and am always on the lookout for venues, collaborations, and spaces that value authenticity, storytelling, and connection through music.
